Happy Mother’s Day!

Today we had an early Mother’s day celebration. We have four kids, which you might already know, so for me, I feel like I needed Mother’s Day. I decided it was probably best to make it known that something needs to happen on Mother’s day. So I did, and my wonderful husband (Jonathan) took care of it.

I started the morning with the three big kids waking me up with their gifts. I received two mugs and a pink plastic pitcher. I’m not sure what the pitcher thing is all about, but I ooo’d and ahh’d over it just the same. Then we got dressed, and went out for breakfast, and then out to the Tulsa Zoo. It was a hot spring day, and Tulsa is really good at those. I think it was 90. After a sweaty but very fun afternoon, we headed home.

As I was uploading our zoo pics, my girls were playing with my shoes and putting them on and walking around. It was just such a classic Mom/daughter moment. I had to take pictures of it. It made me think about how grateful I am to have a wonderful mom, and that I get to be a mom to wonderful kids. What a blessing! I get to be part of their lives everyday, and give them love, encouragement, support and guidance. I also receive so much from them. The love, the cuddles, the kind words and thoughtfulness that they show me. In a way, everyday is Mother’s day.

Got sleds?

We do! Realizing that we might get another round of snow on Wednesday, I scrambled online and ordered a 3 pack of sleds from Amazon.com . On Wed. morning we woke up to this historical dumping of snow, and I feared it might be too much snow to sled in. Well, we went anyway, we headed to one of the hills in town, and after Jonathan blazed a few trails up and down, we got to do some serious sledding. Naomi was “not into it” (she says that a lot) that day, so she just ate the snow. Amelie was annoyed that we even dragged her out in it. So the girls hung back, and the boys continued for a while. I think it was because of this Oldy but Goody…

Northern upbringing tip #23

-Wrap and tie a plastic bag over your sock before you get on your boots. This will save “snow in the boot” aggravation.

So winter storm #3 has been of epic proportions. The weather man said just 3-5 inches over night and in the morning we work up to nearly 12 inches. It looks at least 24 + inches (or 60+ cm to our metric friends in the world) that we have ended up with. TWENTY-FOUR!!! We all got out earlier this morning to enjoy it a bit, I scrounged up what boots and winter gear I could, and we headed out into the front yard for an adventure. Here are a couple pictures of what we did (we lasted around 10 minutes by the way). We’ll hopefully get out and take some fun ones, but for now, we can’t leave the driveway without getting stuck, and I’m pretty sure we aren’t on the snow plow’s radar to dig us out. We gave the van a snowhawk…

Hey Everyone!

We have had a whirlwind of 2011 so far, with a Wedding in Northern Ireland, New Years in Paris, and then inches upon inches of snow, we have struggled to get our feet on the ground. Enough excuses. I thought I’d do a post with some of our fave portraits from 2010. We LOVE our clients, and have enjoyed photographing them all!

Welcoming baby M

We were excited to shoot some photographs of the Christians family and their newest little guy M. He was so sweet and slept the whole time! He was only 8 days old when we took these, which is so important with when photographing newborns. That sleepy “move me how ever you want to” stage is so short.

It is still amazing to us at how tiny newborns are. Just such an unbelievable little miracle! Anyhow, here are a few from the other day! Enjoy!

Ford Family of 3

We spent part of last week in Colorado, and while there got to photograph the Ford Family. They are very special to us because they are family. We love them so much, and are sad to live so far, but enjoy whatever time we get to spend with them. Natalie is my (Becky’s) youngest sister ( notice I didn’t say “baby” sister…heh). My niece Scarlett has THE most stunning blue eyes! She loves the camera, and since her parents are photographers too, she brought her A game. We headed out to Old Colorado City and took advantage of the great ally ways and side streets they have there. It was fun to be somewhere different. Here is a sneak peak. Enjoy!

Miss Rachel

Say Hi to my dear Sister! If you don’t know yet, I (Jonathan) am actually French. Rachel has been living and working in France for the past 6 years, and came over to visit our family for a little while. We had a great time with her, and our kids L.O.V.E. their Aunt Rachel. It was sad to see her go, but she has a great ministry and some awesome new opportunities on the horizon.

While she was here we figured we would go ahead amd take some pics! Here are some of our favorites!

Meet the Shaw Family…

We got to photograph the Shaw family a few weeks ago over at New Life Ranch in Oklahoma. New Life Ranch is an amazing place, if you are looking for a great camp experience for your kids, or for a camp retreat you HAVE to check out this place. Do it! We can’t wait to send our kids there (not because we want to ditch our kids, but because it’s a super place).

OK, back to the photos… I love all the green-ness (not a word, but that’s ok right?) It just looks so crisp and clean. A super family + great location =WIN!. Here are some of our faves. ENJOY!

Miss A!

Spring is finally here! After getting 12 inches of snow in mid March(which is kind of psychotic for NW Arkansas), it was bliss to photograph Miss “A” in the park with all the beautiful green trees & grass, and flowers everywhere. She is so adorable, and totally knew how to strike a pose. No coaching/coaxing needed, she had it down. Anyhow, here are a few of our faves! Snow Fun

We love the SNOW! The kids loved the snow… that is until they touched it and realized it was cold… After a few times and some bundling up, they were able to endure the cold and had a ton of fun!
